Objective/s

As per Article 1 of the Council Decision 2023/2539/CFSP Promoting effective controls on arms export by third countries, in accordance with the principles set out in Common Position 2008/944/CFSP and in the ATT, and seeking, where appropriate, complementarity and synergies with Union assistance projects in the field of export
controls and dual use goods.

Supporting countries´ efforts at national and regional level to render trade in conventional weapons more responsible and transparent, and to mitigate the risk of the diversion of arms to unauthorized users.
Contributing to the Roadmap goal/s
Goal 1 -
By 2023, ensure that arms control legislation is in place, fully harmonized with the EU regulatory framework and other related international obligations and standardized across the region.
Goal 4 -
By 2024, significantly reduce the supply, demand and misuse of firearms through increased awareness, education, outreach and advocacy.
