To prevent and counter illicit trafficking in firearms in Express Courier and postal parcels

Contributing to the Roadmap goal/s

Goal 3 - By 2024, significantly reduce illicit flows of firearms, ammunition and explosives (FAE) into, within and beyond the Western Balkans. 

Contributing to the Roadmap overall targets

Goal 3:

  • Prevent trafficking (smuggling, illicit trade and transit) through development of regulatory framework: MoUs and SOPs on countering firearms trafficking in postal parcels

Key activities implemented up to date

  • Inception meeting.
  • Six local meetings on identifications of gaps in MoUs and SOPs.
  • Twelve local meetings on drafting SOPs and MoUs.
  • Procurement of detection equipment to Albanian Customs.
  • Study visit to CDG Airport.
  • Six visits by French Customs to postal depots in all Western Balkan jurisdictions.
  • SOPs finalized.
