Standardize and institutionalize data collection on firearms, by gender and age, regarding legal and illegal SALW/firearms interdictions, armed violence incidents, ballistic evidence, and other firearms related data resulting in periodic regional firearms, ammunition, and explosives (FAE) risk
analysis and threat assessment.

Increase national analytical capacities and institutionalize firearms data analysis.
Key activities implemented up to date
Component 1

The upgrade of the Weapons Registration and Stockpile Management Software (WRMS) has been completed, based on specifications developed though consultations with the project beneficiary. The technical support of the developed software is ongoing.

The end user training has been completed.

The software has been in use since December 2021.

The hardware necessary for software implementation has been procured and delivered to the Departments for IT, Telecommunications, Weapons Registration and Border Police.

Technical support and maintenance for the upgraded WRMS is currently being provided through the software development vendor.
Component 3

The requirements and Terms of Reference for the new software were created and approved by the Ministry of Interior and Bureau of Public Safety. Following this activity, a procurement procedure was completed which
resulted in the contracting of a consortium of two software development companies that will work on the new software.

Technical trainings related to implementation of the new Police Information Management System were organized for staff from the IT Department.

The hardware necessary for complete functioning of the system was procured and donated to the Ministry of Interior.

All phases of software development have been completed and tested.

A final version of the Police Information Management System has been installed on project beneficiary premises.

User training for 200 police staff has been organized.
