Objective/s

As per Article 1 of the Council Decision 2020/1464/CFSP

  • Promoting effective controls on arms export by third countries, in accordance with the principles set out in Common Position 2008/944/CFSP and in the ATT, and seeking, where appropriate, complementarity and synergies with Union assistance projects in the field of export controls and dual use goods.
  • Supporting countries´ efforts at national and regional level to render trade in conventional weapons more responsible and transparent, and to mitigate the risk of the diversion of arms to unauthorized users.

Contributing to the Roadmap goal/s

Goal 1 - By 2023, ensure that arms control legislation is in place, fully harmonized with the EU regulatory framework and other related international obligations and standardized across the region.
Goal 4 - By 2024, significantly reduce the supply, demand and misuse of firearms through increased awareness, education, outreach and advocacy.

Contributing to the Roadmap overall targets

Goal 1:

  • Ensure full legal and regulatory framework is in place with regards to FAE producers.
  • Fully harmonize arms control legislation with EU legal framework and in line with international agreements/standards.

Goal 4:

  • Increase awareness among licensed private and legal entities about the danger of misuse and illicit proliferation of FAE.

  • Individual Assistance Workshop for Albania, 7-8 & 14-15 April 2021
  • Three Flash Sessions open for all partner countries in which representatives of Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia participated:
    1. Flash Session on Technological Development in the field of Arms Trade Control, 1 June 2021,
    2. Flash Session on Transit and Transhipment, 8 June 2021,
    3. Flash Session on Outreach to Industry and ICP, 15 June 2021.
  • Individual Assistance Workshop for Montenegro, 27 October 2021.
