Objective/s

The project responds to the expressed priority needs of the Albanian law enforcement authorities to improve and refurbish three top-priority ammunition storages of the Albanian State Police at the Regional Directorates of State Police in Lezhë, Vlorë, and Kukës and furnish 120 safes for SALW for the ASP evidence rooms.

Goal 7 - Significantly decrease the risk of proliferation and diversion of firearms, ammunition and explosives.

Contributing to the Roadmap overall targets

  • Strengthen the capacities of relevant state institutions (armed forces, law enforcement, forest guards, customs, correctional services) to establish inspection systems and implement Life Cycle Management of SALW and ammunition (where relevant)
  • Ensure safe and secure SALW/firearms and ammunition storage facilities designated based on identified needs and in accordance with international standards

Key activities implemented up to date

  • Reconstruction and equipping of 3 weapons and ammunition storage depots selected for intervention.
  • Procurement of 120 standard metal safes for the Police Commissariats weapon depots.
