A perception survey with the aim to acquire a better understanding of public perceptions in South East Europe of the possession and use of firearms provided important insights for policymakers throughout the region and its results were integrated into the SALW Survey reports.
An awareness campaign Arm yourself with: Facts, Love, Knowledge, Action was launched online in 2019 in English, Albanian, Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian (BCMS), and Macedonian. The campaign aimed to raise awareness on the dangers of the illegal possession and misuse of firearms and information on the exacerbating impact of the presence of firearms on domestic violence, celebratory shootings, suicides etc. and reached 100,000 users online.
