Education and Work Experience

University degree in Social Sciences or related field;

More than 10 years of demonstrated expertise in research and analysis required;

Substantive knowledge of SALW control and/or human security is required; 

Practical experience with SALW control projects is desirable;

Previous experience with the topic in South East Europe is desirable; 

Demonstrated creativity, strategic and analytical thinking and ability to review and conduct data and comparative analysis.

Evidence of ability to communicate and express ideas clearly; to work independently and in teams.

Excellent writing skills.

Demonstrates interest and understanding of current events, globally, in Europe and in the region.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.

Advanced level of English for writing and oral presentation

Experience in project development and implementation in the field of arms control activities, armed violence prevention, citizen security or law enforcement in South East Europe a strong asset;

Experience in procuring goods and services a strong asset;

Experience in partnership building at international, regional and national level a strong asset;

Experience in budgets development and management a strong asset;

Knowledge of arms control, law enforcement, armed violence prevention and citizen security thematic areas a strong asset;

Knowledge of gender equality in security sector reform processes a strong asset;

Excellent understanding of the political and economic situation in the Western Balkans a requirement;

Knowledge of the existent legal and institutional frameworks for arms control, armed violence prevention and citizen security in South East Europe a strong asset;

Knowledge of UNDP rules and procedures would be an asset; in particular procurement.
