SEESAC organizes EUROPOL Visit to BiH Focal Point for Firearms

SARAJEVO - In support of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Commission for Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), UNDP SEESAC organized a bilateral visit of the EUROPOL Focal Point for Firearms to BiH.

This visit is designed in line with the BiH SALW Commission Action Plan for 2015, while at the same time complementary to the work SEESAC is conducting through the Council Decision 2013/730/CFSP and three specific activities: Improved Marking, Tracing and Registration of SALW in SEE; supporting the work of the South East Europe Firearms Expert Network – both at the regional as well as on the national level, and facilitating Regional Cooperation on Awareness Raising, Information Sharing and Knowledge Transfer.

During the one-day visit, the EUROPOL representative met all relevant BiH law enforcement authorities in Sarajevo (the Directorate for Police Coordination of BiH, the Customs Administration, the Ministry of Security, and the BiH SALW Commission), and introduced them to the possibilities and advantages of closely cooperating with EUROPOL.
