SEESAC featured in the 2020 Annual Report of US Department “To Walk the Earth in Safety” for improving the capacities for physical security and stockpile management in Albania and Serbia
The recently published report To Walk the Earth in Safety by the US Department of State Bureau of Political-Military Affairs - Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement featured the work of SEESAC in Albania and Serbia in improving the capacities for physical security and stockpile management through infrastructure security upgrades and training, conducted with the support of US government.
The 2020 report highlighted the work of SEESAC in initiating additional security upgrades at the Ministry of Interior facility in Mullet - Albania, which will be able to facilitate safer and more secure weapons storage by the Albanian State Police, as well as the conducted Armament and Ammunition Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) training for key personnel.
Additionally, the report acknowledged the work of SEESAC in enhancing the physical security and safety upgrades of the Ministry of Defence Mirake facility and the installation of 70 customized weapons cabinets in the Zall-Herr facility in Albania, alongside the continuation of preparatory activities for safety and security improvements of the Ministry of Interior’s Duvanište storage site and PSSM training for the storage operators in Serbia.
With the support of the US State Department Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement, SEESAC’s work in implementing targeted projects aimed at reducing the risk of the unwanted proliferation of stockpiles of SALW and their ammunition, will continue to form an essential part of project activities throughout the year 2021.
