Regional Meeting of Firearms Focal Points organized by UNDP SEESAC

On 19 November, UNDP SEESAC organized a regional meeting of Firearms Focal Points (FFPs) gathering experts from Belgrade, Chisinau, Podgorica, Pristina, Sarajevo Skopje and Tirana. The participants exchanged their experiences, challenges and best practices regarding the establishment and operationalization of the national FFPs and agreed on the way forward, including on the cooperation with different international organizations. The representatives of local authorities received information on the draft Standard Operating Procedures for FFPS prepared by SEESAC, and provided their inputs. Furthermore, an official from the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the EU Commission briefed the participants on the possibilities of information exchange at different levels.

 

The Regional Firearms Focal Points meeting was organized in the context of the implementation of EU Council Decision (CFSP) 2018/1788 of 19 November 2018, in support of SEESAC for the implementation of the Regional Roadmap on SALW Control in the Western Balkans.
