1,377 pieces of small arms and light weapons destroyed in Bosnia and Herzegovina

1,377 pieces of small arms and light weapons were destroyed at the Jelšingrad, smelter facility in  Banja Luka, on 7 September, by the SALW Coordination Board of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim to increase security and minimize the risk of arms proliferation both at national and regional level. This activity, supported by UNDP SEESAC under the framework of the EU Council Decision (CFSP) 2016/2356 and UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina, contributes to the overall security and stability and also achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 16 to promote peaceful, just and inclusive societies and its target 16.4 that includes a significant reduction in illicit arms flows by 2030.

Mr. Ermin Pešto, Chairperson of SALW Coordination Board in BiH, Tomislav Ćurić, Delegation of the European Union to BiH & European Union Special Representative in BiH and Mr. Slobodan Tadić, United Nations Development Programme in BiH, Justice and Security Sector Leader took part in the SALW destruction event in the presence of media representatives and police agencies.
