A police officer sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg during the arrest of a 22-year-old man who had fled in a stolen vehicle and resisted apprehension. The officer was injured when his service weapon accidentally discharged and was transported to the hospital for treatment. A 29-year-old woman who was in the vehicle with the suspect was also detained. The incident occurred after the suspect failed to stop the stolen car when signalled by police. Investigations are ongoing.
