The Prosecutor's Office has proposed a detention measure for a 59-year-old man for organized weapons trafficking. Following an investigation by SIPA and the Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was identified for preparing and selling large quantities of weaponry throughout 2026 intended for smuggling into the European Union. During the operation, authorities seized automatic and sniper rifles, hand grenades, ammunition, and explosives equipped with remote activation mechanisms. The suspect is charged with the unauthorized traffic of weapons and military equipment, as well as the illicit manufacture and turnover of weapons and explosive substances. The detention was requested to prevent the suspect from influencing witnesses or reoffending.
