A 21-year-old man placed a pizza box at a petrol station with a screen, electronic parts and wires fixed to it, presenting it as a remote-controlled explosive device. He left a threatening letter on the box demanding 50,000 euros to be paid in cryptocurrency, warning that the box would explode if the money was not paid by his deadline, claiming that it held C4 explosive and was fitted with motion sensors. Police sealed off the area for about three hours and explosive ordnance specialists opened the box, which was found to contain no explosive substance. The perpetrator was identified and arrested the same day.
