A 43-year-old man previously known to police as the leader of a drug trafficking organised crime group was found dead in a forest with two gunshot wounds. The incident is under investigation by the police, who suspect murder. At the time of the incident, the victim was under house arrest with an ankle monitor. Ten days later, a 35-year-old man was arrested as the suspected direct perpetrator of the murder. Another suspect, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on February 27, 2026, on suspicion of committing a murder. On 18 March 2026, following coordinated operations in Belgrade and Surdulica, police arrested a 27-year old man and a 33-year-old man, members of an organised criminal group suspected of committing multiple serious offences between 14/10/2025 and 19/01/2026, including this murder, participation in a criminal organisation, illegal production and distribution of narcotics, and illegal manufacture/possession/trafficking of weapons and explosives.
