SEESAC Assists BiH Authorities to Harmonise Arms Control Legislation with EU Standards

Financially supported by the European Union, SEESAC organised a two-day workshop on the harmonisation of the legal framework on arms control of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the EU standards. The workshop took place in Banja Luka on 18-19 October 2022 and gathered representatives of relevant institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina involved in the development of the legislative framework in the field of small arms and light weapons control.

A strong legal framework for small arms and light weapons and explosives control is a precondition for all the other capacity development activities. Having this in mind, such continuous support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in combating the threat posed by the spread and trafficking of SALW and explosives in and from South-East Europe directly contributes to achieving the Goal 1 of the SALW Control Roadmap.

This workshop is being organized within the framework of the EU Council Decision (CFSP) 2019/2111 in support of SEESAC disarmament and arms control activities in South-East Europe in reducing the threat of illicit small arms and light weapons and their ammunition.
