Authorities from Albania and Kosovo* Participate in European Network of Forensic Science Institutes Expert Working Group on Firearms’ Annual Meeting

At the request of the Scientific Police Institute of Albania and Kosovo Forensic Agency, UNDP SEESAC supported the participation of two experts from Albania and one from Kosovo in the ENFSI EWG Firearms and GSR 28th Annual Meeting organised in Lisbon, Portugal on 20-23 September.

The participation of the experts in the annual meeting allowed the authorities to share the knowledge and good practices. It also helped the Albanian Scientific Police Institute to continue working on becoming part of the working group.

The experts’ participation in the meeting was facilitated in the framework of the Support for Enhancing the Fight Against the Illegal Possession, Misuse, and Trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) in the Western Balkans project, funded by the European Union.

The ENFSI EWG Firearms/GSR is the European organisation of experts in one of the most interesting disciplines of forensic science. It combines scientific experience in the fields of firearms identification (FAID), firearms technique, gunshot residues (GSR) and scenes of crime reconstruction in firearms offences. In compliance with the goals of ENFSI, world-wide associated members join in the annual meetings and the projects of the EWG Firearms/GSR.
