Workshop on development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Representatives of Border Police in North Macedonia

On 14-19 December UNDP SEESAC organized a Workshop on development of SOPs for Representatives of Border Police in North Macedonia.

Building upon the results and recommendations of the conducted needs assessment of the capacities of Border Police in North Macedonia to counter illicit arms trafficking, this Workshop enabled development of the SOPs, as one of the primary needs in strengthening of implementation of the Border Police legislative framework for countering illicit arms trafficking.

In this light, during the three-day Workshop, participants worked closely with SEESAC Border Police Experts on the methodology, general requirements and the best practices in developing SOPs, and discussed the ways forward for better cooperation of Border Police and other relevant units and institutions  - thus enabling better interaction and intelligence sharing with other state agencies as well as neighboring countries.

This activity has been implemented within European Union Council Decision (CFSP) 2019/2111 as a continuation of the support provided under the European Union Council Decision (CFSP) 2018/1788 and will be extended by further support to the border police services of Western Balkans in procurement of the equipment that was assessed as needed and related trainings.
