Visit of the representatives of the Moldovan General Police Inspectorate to the Serbian Agency for testing, stamping, and marking of weapons, devices, and ammunition in Kragujevac

Through its longstanding work in the Southeast European region, SEESAC has been supporting law enforcement agencies in the Western Balkan region and Moldova in increasing their capacities for marking, tracing, and recordkeeping by procuring marking machines and providing technical assistance and support in the establishment and enhancement of firearms recordkeeping systems.

Within the scope of these efforts, on 5 and 6 April 2022, SEESAC coordinated the visit of the representatives of the Moldovan General Police Inspectorate to the Serbian Agency for testing, stamping, and marking of weapons, devices, and ammunition in Kragujevac.

During these two days, Serbian hosts conducted training in the correct selection and adjustment of laser parameters for marking procedures, specifically for plastic, steel, and other metals to their Moldovan colleagues. Apart from enhancing technical expertise, this visit also contributed to building and maintaining good channels of knowledge transfer, expertise exchange, and information-sharing in the field of technical inspection and marking procedures on firearms in Southeast Europe.

This activity was implemented under the EU Council Decision (CFSP)2018/1788, as part of SEESAC efforts in supporting the Western Balkan jurisdictions and Moldova in countering the threat of illicit trafficking of firearms to and from the region.
