UNDP SEESAC hosts Coordination Meeting on Gender and Security Sector Reform in Serbia
On 27 April, UNDP SEESAC hosted a coordination meeting on gender and security sector reform projects in Serbia. This informal gathering of international stakeholders supporting national efforts in this important sphere was initiated by the OSCE Mission to Serbia in early 2012. The aim is to facilitate a regular exchange of information on ongoing and future activities and to coordinate efforts in the field. The first
meeting was held in February 2012 and was attended by the OSCE Mission, UN Women and UNDP SEESAC.
Today’s meeting, chaired by Dr. Ivan Zverzhanovski, UNDP SEESAC Team Leader a.i, was attended by representatives of the UNDP, OSCE Mission to Serbia, UNDP’s Combating Sexual and Gender Based Violence Project, the Swedish National Police Board and Kvinna till Kvinna.
Meeting participants outlined key activities with regards to their projects dealing with the support for gender in the security sector and discussed avenues for improved coordination and cooperation. The next coordination meeting was tentatively set to take place in June 2012 where further proposals for projects’ synergies will be presented.
