The 5th Executive Committee Meeting of the CASM Programme Held

The Executive Committee of the CASM Programme met for the 5th time on 9 May 2014 at the SEESAC office to review current work and future plans.

 

At the 5th meeting, the Programme Management Unit informed the Executive Committee about the progress on project implementation. The Executive Committee also reviewed the fundraising efforts and accomplishments. Finally, the committee agreed to tentatively schedule the CASM Supervisory Board meeting for the last quarter of 2014.

 

As the body directly responsible for efficient execution of the project, the Executive Committee performs operational and executive functions associated with the CASM Programme.

 

The Executive Committee consists of the representatives of the organizations leading the Programme: the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and SEESAC, as the implementing agent of the CASM Programme.

 

The CASM Programme was initiated in February 2012 at the request of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia with the aim to improve capacity for conventional ammunition stockpile management in Serbia by enhancing security and safety of conventional ammunition storage facilities, disposing of surplus ammunitions and strengthening demilitarization capacities of the MoD.


ABOUT CASM Programme

CASM Programme is a joint development programme of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that aims to improve capacity of the MoD of the Republic of Serbia for conventional ammunition stockpile management.  CASM activities are divided in three components, namely:

  1. Demilitarization and Disposal of approximately 1,133 tonnes of Napalm Powder and White Phosphorous filled ammunition;
  2. Infrastructure Development of ammunition storage areas and capacity development of ammunition management systems at Mirsac and Mirnicka Reka;
  3. Infrastructure improvements of demilitarization facility – TRZ Kragujevac.
