Serbian MoD and Armed Forces Developing a Gender Training Manual

In order to successfully implement gender awareness trainings in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Armed Forces (AF), gender trainers from the Serbian MoD decided to develop a Gender Training Manual that would reflect the needs of the MoD and AF.  The manual is to be developed during a series of three workshops, the first of which was held on 24 July 2014.

Six gender trainers from Serbia’s MoD and AF took active part in the first workshop and agreed on the format and the content of the manual which will serve as a tool for implementing gender-sensitization activities in their respective institutions. It would in turn enable not only them, but also other educators in the system, to develop and conduct gender trainings and seminars.

The workshop was organized upon the request of the Serbian MoD and with the support of UNDP/SEESAC within the project Gender Equality in the Military.

Gender trainers in the Serbian MoD and Serbian Armed Forces are part of the regional network of certified gender trainers established in March 2014 as the result of the Regional Gender Train-the-Trainers Course delivered by the Nordic Center for Gender in Military Operations. The regional network of gender trainers was established with the aim to plan, develop, and conduct gender-awareness courses in their respective institutions.

ABOUT THE GENDER EQUALITY IN THE MILITARY PROJECT
