SEESAC Supports Professional Capacity Building for Female Officers

UNDP SEESAC, through Gender Equality in the Military project, supports the participation of women officers in the Armed Forces (AF) in the Western Balkan in courses that strengthen their knowledge and skills, and consequently their career prospects.

In April and May 2015, three female officers attended specialized short courses at Cranfield University in the UK.  The Cranfield University is part of the UK Defence Academy and, as such, it is a leading institution in offering short professional development courses in the area of defence and security.

Two female officers from the Armed Forces of Montenegro participated in the Women as Leaders course (21 – 23 April), while their colleague from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia took part in the Delivering Strategic Goals course (11 – 15 May).

From the beginning of the project in 2012, UNDP SEESAC supported seven female officers from the Armed Forces in the Western Balkans in attending specialized, short courses.
