SEESAC Purchases IT Equipment to Support the Data Gathering Effort that will Help Create Sound Gender Mainstreaming Policies at the Ministries of Defence
At the request made by national authorities, in January 2013, UNDP/SEESAC purchased IT equipment for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYRM). The purchase was made within the project “Support for Gender Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform in the Western Balkans.”
The IT equipment, consisting of a lap top, laser printer and a scanner, will be used by the gender focal point at the Ministry od Defence and will improve collection of data gathered through the survey examining the position and the role of women in the armed forces and MoD in FYR Macedonia.
Part of the region-wide activity conducted by four MoDs in the Western Balkans, the survey is designed to provide new data on the number of women currently serving at the armed forces and their roles, thus contributing to evidence based creation of polices related to the UNSCR 1325.
This UNDP/SEESAC’s regional project supports the ongoing efforts of the MoDs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia to integrate gender equality into their policies, procedures and practices through regional cooperation. The support provided to the MoD gender equality mechanisms varies in kind and includes provision of technical and logistical assistance
