SEESAC Participates in the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation in Vienna
Vienna, Austria - On 29 April 2015, SEESAC participated in the OSCE Forum for Security Co–operation (FSC) in Vienna on the request of the Permanent Mission of Montenegro to the OSCE who is currently chairing the FSC and its Security Dialogue.
The aim of this Security Dialogue session is to contribute to a better understanding of the concept of Security Sector Reform and Governance (SSR/G) among the OSCE participating states, and to show how its concrete implementation contributes to effective and accountable provision of security by highlighting practical experiences and results made in South East Europe (SEE).
SEESAC Project Officer Slobodan Boskovic held a presentation on practical experiences and achievements in implementing the SSG/R in the SEE, emphasizing the importance of regional approach and inclusion of gender perspective in SSR/G processes.
The first part of the session was dedicated to the political and normative aspects of the SSR /G concept, with emphasis on the importance of the Code of Conduct in political and military aspects of security, presented by Professor Hönggi Heiner, Assistant Director and Head of Research Division of Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF).
