SEESAC Participates in the Development of the OSCE E-Learning Platform on Gender in Border Security and Management
SEESAC participated in a two-day meeting on the development of the E- Learning Platform on Gender Mainstreaming in Border Security and Management (BSM) organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on 19 – 20 September in Vienna.
The on-line platform will serve as the learning tool for development of knowledge, skills and attitudes towards the implementation of the gender mainstreaming principles for various levels of personnel in BSM services. In addition, the platform will be used as resource to successfully advocate for gender mainstreaming in BSM.
The aim of the meeting in Vienna was to agree on the target groups and the content of the on-line training. SEESAC actively participated in the discussion and shared experiences in supporting the development of the Gender Training Manual for the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Armed Forces, the first manual of this kind in the Ministries of Defence in the Western Balkans. The Manual was developed within the SEESAC Gender Equality in the Military Project .
The meeting in Vienna was organized as part of the OSCE project Women Leadership and Empowerment Initiative for Border Security and Management Agencies, aimed at enhancing the capacities of the OSCE participating States Border Security and Management agencies by developing sustainable mechanisms to promote gender mainstreaming at all levels. The first project activity was held in Helsinki in May 2016, when the OSCE Gender Equality Platform for Border Security and Management was launched, in which SEESAC also took part.
