Regional Training on Open Case File

On 21 October 2019, SEESAC in cooperation with UK’s National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS) organized the Regional Training on Open Case File addressed to ballistic experts from South East Europe. The training facilitated discussions and knowledge sharing regarding the procedures for setting up and managing an Open Case File, a collection of physical ammunition samples recovered from crime scenes. A necessity of developing standard operating procedures in this field was also discussed during the training.

The training was organized with the financial support of the European Union (EU), in the framework of the EU Decision CFSP 2016/2356, and continues the support that UNDP SEESAC has provided for strengthening the capacities of the ballistic laboratories in South East Europe. The training also contributes to the implementation of the Roadmap for a sustainable solution to the illegal possession, misuse and trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and their ammunition in the Western Balkans.
