Online investigations in the focus

Training on Online Investigations on firearms was organized in Skopje by EMPACT Firearms from 17 to 19 December 2019 with the support of UNDP SEESAC

40 participants coming from Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine participated in this hands-on workshop enhancing their skills in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and cyber patrolling in surface web and on the dark-web with leading experts in these fields. A separate and in-depth session was dedicated to cryptocurrencies in online investigations. Participants also learned about EMPACT funding opportunities for cyber-criminal investigations.

On this occasion, SEESAC, with funding from the EU through the EU CD 2016/2356 donated laptops to participating delegations dedicated to improving their capacities in conducting cyber patrols and online investigations.

The workshop was organized in the framework of EU Policy Cycle 2018-2021 which foresees specific operational action for advancing online investigations and supports the implementation of the Roadmap for a sustainable solution to the illegal possession, misuse and trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW)/firearms and their ammunition in the Western Balkans
