Montenegro 2008 Arms Exports and Imports Report

The Republic of Montenegro has produced their third national report on export and import of arms, military equipment and dual-use goods covering the period 01 Jan - 31 Dec 2008.

The main body of the Report contains general information on applicable legislation, the new Law on Foreign Trade in Controlled Goods, in force since 01 July 2009, the policy of export and import controls, national control lists, competent institutions in the licensing process, licensing criteria, international agreements, past experience in the field of foreign trade of controlled goods, information about participation in workshops and further improvements of the control system, as well as analysis of statistical data.

The annexes contain data on the national imports and exports of arms, military equipment and dual-use goods; information about the registered foreign trade activities, i.e. approved and denied applications, as well as data on companies registered for trade in controlled goods.

The Government of Montenegro has made commitments to promote responsible export control and arms transfers that strengthen global and especially regional security. Through the publication of the 2008 Report the Republic of Montenegro has increased the level of transparency in the exports control and has made a major contribution to the international and regional cooperation in this field.
