Croatia: Annual Report on Export and Import of Military and Non-Military Lethal Goods
The Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Croatia published their first annual report on export and import of military and non-military lethal goods. The report provides an overview of the exports and imports of controlled goods in the period 1 January to 31 December 2009.
The import and export control of military goods in Croatia is a reflection of various factors, including, most importantly, the issues of national security, foreign policy and economic interests. With the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement between the Republic of Croatia and the European Union, the Republic of Croatia undertook the commitment to harmonize its legislation with the EU acquis communautaire.
The report provides detailed information on the national legislation in the field of international transfers of controlled goods as well as on the national strategy and action plan for the control of small arms and light weapons.
The report also contains information on international legal instruments and regimes, export control system procedures, cooperation in export control, and review of licenses issued in 2009.
The appendices show in tables export and import of military goods and non-military lethal goods in 2009 broken down by countries, number of issued licensees, description of goods and the value of goods, temporary export and import, provision of services for military goods, list of companies registered in the Register of Importers and Exporters of military and non-military lethal goods, list of companies registered in the Register of Service Providers and a detailed overview of the export
according to the EU methodology.
