2nd Meeting of the Baseline Study Regional Working Group
On 24 June 2013, the regional working group (WG) tasked with developing the Baseline Study on the Position of Women in the Armed Forces in the Western Balkans met in Belgrade. The working group’s main task was to review the responses to the jointly developed questionnaire which were submitted by the Ministries of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The WG also discussed the first draft analysis and agreed on the format and content.
The aim of the Study is to collect regionally comparable data on the position of women in the Armed Forces in order to better inform human resource policy reforms with a view of attracting to the military profession more qualified female candidates and ensure that those that join are given equal career development prospects.
The Baseline Study is a ground breaking joint endeavor of the four Ministries of Defence from the region who have themselves developed the survey methodology, collected the data and will review the results and subsequently formulate the recommendations.
The development of the Baseline study on the Position of Women in the Armed Forces in the Western Balkans is supported by SEESAC through its “Gender Equality in the Military’ project.
