Join us for BMS7 side event “From the Western Balkans to the Caribbean – Regional Approaches to Arms Control”

UN Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC) and SEESAC will organize a virtual side event “From the Western Balkans to the Caribbean – Regional Approaches to Arms Control” on 27 July 2021 from 13.00-15.00 EDT (19.00-21.00 CEST). The event will be held on the occasion of the 7th Biennial Meeting of States on the UN Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat, and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects.

Representatives from the Western Balkans and the Caribbean, implementing partners and donor community will speak about the vision, goals and targets of the Western Balkans SALW Control Roadmap and the Caribbean Firearms Roadmap, the added value of this regional approach and some key lessons learnt from the processes. 

The event will be organized via an online platform, adapting to the limitations posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

About 7th Biennial Meeting of States

BMS7 will be held from 26 to 30 July 2021, in New York, bringing together member states, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and experts around the globe to consider the national, regional and global implementation of the Programme of Action (PoA) to prevent, combat and eradicate the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in all its aspects and its International Tracing Instrument (ITI).
