7th Regional Information Exchange Process meeting held in Jahorina

Representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia took part in the 7th Regional Information Exchange Process meeting.

Representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia took part in the 7th Regional Information Exchange Process meeting.

On 27 March, the 7th Regional Information Exchange Process (RIEP) meeting took place on Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the ownership of the process being turned over to the participating countries, the 7th meeting was co-hosted by Bosnia and Herzegovina and UNDP/SEESAC.

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia took part in the meeting which was opened by Mr. Branimir Mandic, Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Dragisa Mekic, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Dr. Ivan Zverzhanovski, SEESAC Team Leader a.i.

The first part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the ongoing activities supported by UNDP/SEESAC including the production of the national and regional reports as well as the creation of the Brokers’ Database.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to information exchange on export and import policies of participating countries. Representatives discussed updates in their respective SALW legislative procedures, the existing controls of SALW brokering activities as well as the post-export control measures and ways of improving those. Finally the countries exchanged their views and opinion on the ongoing negotiations on the Arms Trade Treaty.
