Representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and SEESAC have presented their current activities and priorities for 2010. It was established that many of the objectives of SEESAC’s program are also part of the priorities of Swiss foreign policy in the region. SEESAC presented to the attention of SDC project proposal for a study on the perceptions of security in Montenegro and Serbia. SDC informed that they will be able to provide a feedback on the proposal in September 2009 after consultations with other relevant institutions.  ... read more


Mr Nicolae Macovei, Head of the Public Security Department, Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Moldova, visited SEESAC in Belgrade to discuss with Diman Dimov, Team Leader SEESAC, and Ivan Zverzhanovski, SALW Project Officer, modalities of the project for destruction of confiscated and surplus weapons in Moldova. They have agreed on the method of destruction and the timeframe for the project implementation. The project will be carried out in full complience with the applicable enviromental legislaton in Moldova. The commission for destruction in Moldova will include representatives from the Office of the Prosecutor General, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Ecology, and representatives of the civil society. Ms Cihan Sultanoglu, Deputy Assistant Administrator & Deputy Regional Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe & the CIS, has presented to the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) the draft documents, prepared by RBEC and SEESAC, for the establishment of a regional trust fund. The purpose of the trust fund will be to support the implementation of projects in Southeast Europe in the following thematic areas: economic and social development; infrastructure and energy; justice and home affairs; security cooperation; building human capital; and parliamentary cooperation. SEESAC organised a regional conference during 09-10 July 2009 in Becici, Montenegro, where representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia discussed the development of the first Regional Report on Arms Exports.  ... read more
