Montenegro: SALW Storage Upgrade

The activity is focused on improving the safety and security of weapons and ammunition storage site ‘Taras’ in Montenegro by providing  technical and infrastructure assistance in order to enhance safe storage capacities.

The security fence around the  storage facility is installed. The electrical part of the video surveillance project – wiring is finalized. The power substation, diesel generator and backup generator were ordered and delivery is expected by the end of October 2010.

The activity is funded by the European Union (EU), under the EU COUNCIL DECISION 2010/179/CFSP of 11 March 2010 in support of SEESAC arms control activities in the Western Balkans, in the framework of the EU Strategy to combat the illicit accumulation and trafficking of SALW and their ammunition.
