Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM)

Infrastructure security upgrades, surplus reduction and training reduced the risk of proliferation through the enhancement of weapons and ammunition stockpile security and by reducing surplus stocks of SALW and their ammunition.

Throughout the scope of the project, 48,014 pieces of SALW, 9,075 of their parts and components, and 499,999 pieces of SALW ammunition were destroyed, in support of the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo[1], the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro and Serbia.

Additionally, security infrastructure in seven storage locations and fifteen evidence rooms of MOIs and police services throughout the region were upgraded in line with international standards, contributing so to increased security of stockpiles and to reduced risks of proliferation.

Three Regional Workshops of the Regional Approach to Stockpile Reduction (RASR) Initiative contributed also to the exchange of good practices among armed forces in the region for a more efficient and effective ammunition stockpile management and disposal.
