Serbia: Support to the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development
SEESAC and the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development (MERD) of the Republic of Serbia have established a close partnership in the field of arms export controls. Since 2006, SEESAC has assisted MERD in the development of three national reports on arms transfers, and has also supported outreach activities by providing Serbian industry with updated information on the applicable regulations surrounding arms exports. SEESAC has also provided technical assistance and capacity building advice to MERD staff for the implementation of national export control legislation.
SEESAC will concentrate on supporting MERD's data management in 2010. The data on arms exports and imports will be reviewed, updated and classified according to best international practices, and the business processes relating to the management of export license information will be modified to match the national and regional reporting formats.
