SALW Liaison Officer in Moldova

Following up on a request by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Moldova for increased coordination between SEESAC and MIA during the implementation of SALW projects in Moldova, SEESAC has recruited in August 2009 Mr. Mihail Beregoi  as a SALW Liaison Officer in Moldova.

Mr Beregoi has extensive experience working in delivering technical assistance to national counterparts. Between 2003-2009 he was managing the Program for Assistance for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova (BUMAD). Mr Beregoi coordinates SEESAC's SALW intervention activities in Moldova working with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and the Ministry of Trade.

Currently Mr Beregoi is engaged in implementing the project for destruction of confiscated and surplus weapons in MIA Moldova. The tentative date for the destruction of has been set for 06 October 2009.
