Croatia: Bomb squad receives new safety equipment
On 01 February 2011, in Zagreb, Croatian bomb squad received new safety equipment worth €70,000, as a part of the EU funded programme designed to promote arms control in Southeast Europe.
The equipment, including 21 bulletproof vests, 21 protective helmets, six ballistic containers and six anti-explosive kits was presented to the Interior Ministry's Anti-Explosive Department by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Croatia, which implements the activity under the EU Council Decision 2010/179/CFSP of 11 March 2010 in support of SEESAC arms control activities in
the Western Balkans, in the framework of the EU Strategy to combat the illicit accumulation and trafficking of SALW and their ammunition.
The equipment was delivered to General Police Director Oliver Grbić in Zagreb by UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Louisa Vinton. Representative of the European Union Delegation to Croatia, Špela Cimerman, expressed her support to the project.
